There is some quite interesting business news going on in the world today.

Amazon has announced plans for 5,000 new UK jobs in its existing warehouses while building a workforce for it’s new expansions into clothing and fresh food. According to the BBC, this move shows that the global retailer realises the importance of the UK market, which is Amazon’s 2nd largest market (outside the US) behind Germany. Dulux have also announced some investment into a research and development centre in Gateshead. It’s good to see that larger firms are sticking with the UK during these times of uncertainty and investing back in the economy to provide new jobs and new developments.

In more UK based news, the Brexit bill gets its Second Reading in the House of Lords today. Theresa May previously stated she wanted to invoke Artlicle 50 in March. So, with time running out, it’ll be interesting to see what the House of Lords come up with and if it affects any of the positive attitudes that large companies have towards the UK economy and markets! The Brexit vote famously came during the ‘year of the underdog’ so as a football fan; I can’t write a current news blog without mentioning the FA Cup this week. Congratulations to Lincoln City and all the best for Sutton United tonight too!

Closer to home here at BFS, last week provided a bit of release from the office. One of our directors attended the Love Business Expo at Donington Park on Thursday. We can’t praise it highly enough and met countless new friends and business partners. We’ve been working with some clients from the Expo, financing some businesses and assets for our new friends. The phones are continuing to ring and we’re grateful to everyone that chooses BFS to fund their needs and wants!
